Seattle, WA, August 5, 2004 – LizardTech, Inc., a leader in software solutions that make it significantly easier to manage, distribute and access digital content such as aerial photography, satellite imagery and scanned color documents, today announced that its Express Server image delivery software has successfully completed integration testing with EMC Centera content addressed storage systems using ESRI’s ArcGIS software. The systems integration testing, conducted by ESRI, the leading developer of geographic information system (GIS) software, helps ensure interoperability and enable real-time, easy-to-manage image solutions for aerial and satellite imagery and other GIS applications.
As part of the testing, image files were converted from their native format to LizardTech’s MrSID® format, the de facto industry standard for managing, accessing and distributing massive geospatial imagery such as aerial photos and satellite images. Each test image file was accessed at full extent and at zoomed-in using ArcMap and ArcIMS from Express Server with Centera. Tests showed that Express Server’s response times using Centera were equal to or faster than internal, server-based storage, highlighting that Express Server coupled with Centera, can meet the performance demands of real-time applications. The results for an ArcIMS configuration were similar to the ArcMap configuration.
“EMC Centera provides customers using ESRI’s leading software with industry leading features and functions,” said Roy Sanford, Vice President of Content Addressed Storage at EMC. “By working with LizardTech, we’re able to bring the benefits of efficient image storage and distribution to corporations, government agencies and organizations that rely on geospatial imagery.”
“Achieving successful ESRI integration with Express Server and EMC Centera extends LizardTech’s commitment to delivering leading image management and distributions solutions to our mutual customers,” said Karen Morley, vice president of global marketing for LizardTech.“Real-time interoperability of our image distribution software with EMC Centera makes it possible for massive image stores to be immediately accessible to a distributed network of geospatial imaging professionals.”
Government agencies and corporations with growing geospatial image storage demands need a cost-effective way to access and distribute enormous aerial and satellite images. Express Server extends the proven efficiency of MrSID to provide these organizations with a simple, affordable way to access and distribute large geospatial imagery across the hall or around the globe.
