LizardTech Express Suite is Recognized at the Geospatial Leadership Awards Ceremony by GeoTec Media

Product Receives an Honorable Mention in the Innovation Award Category

SEATTLE, Wash. – June 3, 2008 - LizardTech, a division of Celartem Inc. and a leading provider of software solutions for managing and distributing digital content, today received an honorable mention in the Innovation Award category for its Express Suite Family of Products during the Geospatial Leadership Awards ceremony at the 2008 GeoTec Conference in Ottawa Ontario. The Geospatial Innovator Award category considers companies that have created new software or hardware that expands the possibilities of the geospatial industry.

“We are thrilled to have been nominated and receive an honorable mention from GeoTec Media in the Geospatial Innovator category among other well-respected companies,” said Jon Skiffington, senior product manager, LizardTech. “The need to store and serve massive geospatial data continues to grow rapidly and Express Suite is the one solution that enables an efficient workflow for high-volume, high-resolution image management.”

“We’re very proud of this prestigious awards program,” stated Jo Treadwell, VP and Group Publisher, GeoTec Media. “As the leading magazine in the geospatial technology market, we felt it was important to honor those companies and organizations that have strengthened our industry through their innovation.”

LizardTech’s Express Suite family of products consists of GeoExpress for compression and manipulation, Spatial Express for storage, and Express Server for high-performance delivery and publication.

    • GeoExpress provides image manipulation tools such as reprojection, lossless encoding, color balancing and compression to improve workflows, ensure interoperability and aid standards compliance. GeoExpress encodes geospatial image data to the industry standard MrSID and ISO standard JPEG 2000 multiresolution image formats, both easily reusable in downstream applications, without any compromise in image quality.
    • Spatial Express is a toolset for moving massive raster imagery in and out of an Oracle Spatial database for use in geospatial applications. Using industry and ISO standard multiresolution formats, Spatial Express enables organizations to centralize storage of their geospatial data, reduce load and memory usage on database servers, and lower storage space requirements by 95 percent or more.
  • Express Server is a server application for rapidly distributing large datasets of raster imagery. With Express Server, users on any device over any connection access imagery faster. Express Server enables organizations to serve more users in less time using widely adopted standards and familiar tools – without adding hardware or bandwidth.

LizardTech Releases Free GeoExpress 7 Software Development Kit (SDK)

GeoExpress SDK Now Supports 64-bit Platforms for Both MrSID® and JPEG 2000

SEATTLE, Wash. – June 2, 2008 - LizardTech, a division of Celartem, Inc., and a leading provider of software solutions for managing and distributing digital content, announced today the release of its free GeoExpress 7 SDK, a toolkit for decoding and viewing MrSID and JPEG 2000 images in third-party applications.

This latest release of the GeoExpress 7 SDK offers support for 64-bit platforms, providing developers better compatibility with GDAL and other third-party libraries along with access to more memory than before when working with MrSID and JPEG 2000 imagery. Improved documentation and sample applications for this release will make it easier for developers to integrate with third-party applications.

Additionally, the GeoExpress 7 SDK includes support for modern compilers including Visual Studio 2008 and gcc 4.1 and the latest operating systems such as Windows Vista, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, and Mac OS X 10.5.

“Developers have been asking for a 64-bit SDK from LizardTech for quite some time,” said Jon Skiffington, LizardTech’s geospatial product manager, “along with support for the latest compilers such as VC 9. We’re glad that we’re able to provide this latest version of our free SDK which will make it easier for them to add support for MrSID and JPEG 2000 imagery in their applications.”

The GeoExpress SDK is the geospatial industry’s only solution that offers the benefits of both MrSID technology and ISO standard JPEG 2000 without any compromise in the quality of imagery. LizardTech’s GeoExpress SDK is available for free for many different operating systems and compilers and can be downloaded directly from LizardTech’s website athttp://www.lizardtech.com/developer.

LizardTech Partners with USGIF to Support Educational Program

Company donates free software to accredited universities

SEATTLE, Wash. – May 15, 2008 - LizardTech, a division of Celartem Inc. and a leading provider of software solutions for managing and distributing digital content, announced at the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) Tech Days conference this week that the company is partnering with the USGIF on its Geospatial Intelligence Accreditation and Certificate Program. As part of the partnership, LizardTech is donating to USGIF accredited colleges and universities free copies of its educational bundle of GeoExpress for image compression and manipulation and Express Server for high-performance delivery.

The Geospatial Intelligence Accreditation and Certificate Program complements a college degree, supports career development and provides professional recognition to students in the form of a completion certificate. Once a qualified university is accredited by USGIF it will receive a complimentary educational bundle from LizardTech.

With LizardTech’s geospatial software, students and faculty from the accredited universities will be able to take advantage of the robust toolset available in GeoExpress 7 to manipulate, compress and view massive geospatial imagery. To further promote research and learning, LizardTech is also including Express Server 6, enabling students and faculty to rapidly deliver images across the Internet and make them available to other research and student populations around the world. In addition, for the first time, students will be able to streamline their workflows by encoding and publishing imagery directly to Express Server, a brand new feature available with the release of GeoExpress 7.

“We are honored to be partnering with USGIF on this very important program supporting academic institutions in their training of the next generation of geospatial professionals,” said Jon Skiffington, LizardTech’s senior product manager. “By providing GeoExpress and Express Server, LizardTech is giving students the latest tools to compress and manipulate massive geospatial imagery and distribute it via the Internet to any device, and help them gain expertise in the applications they’ll be using every day after graduation.”

“USGIF’s accreditation program ensures schools and their students know their course work is relevant and applicable to the real-word situations the community’s professional workforce faces each day,” said Jordan Fuhr, USGIF director of communications. “We are excited that our members are supporting the accreditation program by seeking employees from these accredited schools upon graduation and, like LizardTech, donating products to expose students while they are in school.”

Colleges and universities interested in creating a geospatial intelligence program or applying for accreditation are encouraged to submit applications to the USGIF Academy. Applications, which are evaluated based on the criteria established by the foundation’s academic panel, must be submitted by Oct. 31 for spring 2009 accreditation. Curriculum guidelines, requirements, applications and additional information are available on USGIF’s website at www.usgif.org.
