LizardTech MrSID Generation 4 Files Now Supported in LP360

GeoCue Product Supports Viewing MG4 files

SEATTLE, Wash. – February 24, 2011 - LizardTech®, a division of Celartem Inc. and a leading provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content, announced the integration of its MrSID® Generation 4 Decode SDK (MG4DSDK) into GeoCue Corporation’s LP360 for ArcGIS™ and other LP360 software applications.

GeoCue Corporation, which is the parent company of QCoherent Software LLC, offers the LP360 product line, a LiDAR software extension for the Esri™ ArcGIS Environment. With the integration of LizardTech’s MG4 DSDK, LP360 customers will have the ability to efficiently input and decode LiDAR data that has been compressed using LizardTech’s LiDAR Compressor™ software.

Lewis Graham, president and chief technical officer at GeoCue, believes this integration will be very well received by users of LP360 software. “Our customers have asked for tools to input, decode, and view compressed LiDAR point clouds, and with the integration of LizardTech’s MG4 DSDK, they can do that easily and efficiently.

We’re pleased with this integration as it confirms LizardTech’s commitment to our customers in enabling them to use our product in as many other applications as possible,” said Jon Skiffington, director of product management. “Now LP360 users will be able to handle compressed LiDAR datasets in ArcGIS.

LizardTech Exhibits at the International LIDAR Mapping Forum 2011

SEATTLE, Wash. – February 7, 2011 - LizardTech®, a division of Celartem Inc. and a leading provider of software solutions for managing and distributing geospatial content, is exhibiting in Booth #3 at the International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF) 2011 this week.

We’re excited for this week’s ILMF show where we will showcase our latest innovation in compressing LiDAR files, LiDAR Compressor® software,” said Jon Skiffington, director of product management. “LiDAR files compressed to MrSID® format are easily managed resources from which derivatives can be extracted over and over again.

In addition, LizardTech’s Michael S. Rosen will be presenting during the “Basics to LiDAR” workshop. The workshop, titled “LiDAR Distribution: Challenges and Solutions,” is on Wednesday, Feb. 9 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. With the increasing use of LiDAR comes a corresponding increase in the frustration of geospatial professionals who need to work with point cloud data. LiDAR files can get unmanageably large very quickly. This makes the distribution challenge particularly difficult. This presentation will explore the current state of the art approaches to dealing with this problem.

A trial version of LiDAR Compressor is available as a free download on LizardTech’s website at http://www.lizardtech.com/download.

About LiDAR Compressor

LizardTech LiDAR Compressor software enables you to turn giant point cloud datasets into efficient MrSID files that retain 100 percent of the raw data at just 25 percent or less of the original file size (lossless compression). If storage requirements are critical, you can reduce your LiDAR file sizes by 90 percent or more by choosing a higher compression ratio and letting LiDAR Compressor select the best way to reach a desired file size (lossy compression). Unlike raw LAS or ASCII data, LiDAR files compressed to MrSID are easily managed resources you can extract derivatives from again and again.
