Image compression…the truth is out there

A while back GeoWorld asked LizardTech if we would author an article explaining some of the basics of image compression, just the background you’d need to know in order to be scintillating at a dinner party where geo-geeks were. My colleague and frequent coauthor Michael P. Gerlek (full disclosure: he’s also my boss) and I put together a little something we called “A Bluffer’s Guide to Image Compression.”

The article is in the September edition (pp. 24-27). The title in the final version has been shortened but otherwise it looks like what we gave them. Now you have no excuse not to ratchet up the conversational stakes a notch or two next time you’re talking shop around the cheese ball.
