GC, being in that line of work you'll surely want to keep your eye on our waterfront, since the first two blocks of it are reclaimed from the bay and we may be tearing it up soon to put our new tunnel in.

Thanks for the comment and the props. It makes us want to work through lunch. Oh wait, gonna have to do that anyway...

This is it! I could not believe what I have seen here, a land-based Lidar tool!

So far I was fairly convinced that Lidar surveying gear are most likely being installed on an airplane, and then they fly above a certain area and then gather the points hence calculating surface parameters...

Obviously my knowledge of Lidar was not as advanced as I have believed so far, but nevermind as Lizardtech just helped me out with this excellent posting! Thank you for that!

Heat dilatation, tidal effect on ground conditions are my territory, owing to my civil/environmental background, still a good closing paragraph though!

Keep up the good work LizardTech!

STH,
I was sure I had already sent a response to your question -- I remember writing it. I apologize for leaving you hanging so long. We don't inhibit the free decode SDK in any way, so you and any other third-party developer should be able to get the same performance as in our application.

Thanks for asking.

A few years ago I found a wonderful lesson online on making a dichotomous key using large plastic lizards. I think a high school teacher developed it. He had the lizards, pictures, names, etc. I downloaded the lesson plan and hoped I could find enough of the larger plastic lizards - not the little tiny ones.
Now, I've found some great plastic lizards at Libery Science Center, but I lost the lesson plans. Can you help?

Will the files typically have almost the same loading time in your application and in 3rd party applications or are there any limitations on the free SDK? Thanks for the swift reply and keep up the good work!

If you're using interop to access the SDK, you might want to also check out this thread on our forums, in which a customer and I are extending the example to access metadata records:

Yes, the shifting of the ground is...er...unsettling. I thought Clinton was being absurd when he wanted clarification on the word "is", but now I'm starting to think I'm not really sure what "here" means.

Very cool. The only time that I've ever seen Lidar scanners is on a TV. There's a show called Crime 360 that uses one to replicate crime scenes. And now that I know that the ground breathes, I'm a bit creeped out too. ;-)

Thanks for the updates on your calendar. We use GIS software to strategically pinpoint communities and homes with plotted points of interest. This gives us some advantage in our business.

I have found google maps helpful in several situations. I didn't think about going back to look at it for past trips, but that is a cool idea. It's always neat to see how things evolve and change after you leave...
