Notes:

  • Supported platforms: Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (32- or 64-bit), Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (32-bit), Windows Server 2008R2 Service Pack 1 (64-bit), Red Hat Enterprise Server 5 or 6.
  • Supported web servers: IIS 6.0 (on Windows Server 2003), IIS 7.0 with ISAPI Extensions (on Windows Server 2008), IIS 7.5 with ISAPI Extensions (on Windows Server 2008R2), Apache Web Server 2.0.x or 2.2.x (32-bit)
  • To install Express Server, you must have root (Unix) or admin (Windows) permissions.
  • Express Server must be installed into a directory whose path contains no non-ASCII characters.

Download and Installation Instructions:

  1. Click here to begin downloading the trial. (This file is approximately 3.1 GB.)
  2. Before installing Express Server 8, uninstall any previous versions of LizardTech’s Express Server or Content Server:
    To uninstall Express Server on Unix:
    Use the uninstall.sh script located by default at /opt/LizardTech/installrecords/
    To uninstall Express Server on Windows:

    1. Stop your Apache or IIS web server and your Web Publishing Service.
    2. Follow the Start menu path to your Control Panel and the Add or Remove Programs dialog. This path varies on different versions of Windows. Locate the program and select it, then click Remove or Uninstall.and follow the uninstaller wizard’s instructions.
  3. Once the trial is downloaded, unzip and extract the files.
  4. Double-click the file “AutoRun.exe” to start the installation process. The DVD browser opens with a list of products to choose from.
  5. Click Express Server (the trial version is the same installation as the fully licensed version).
  6. If you have not uninstalled any previous version of Express Server the installer will prompt you to do so. You must restart the installation process after the uninstall is complete (note: do not restart your web server until after installing the new version).
  7. Read the License Agreement. To accept the license agreement and continue the installation, click Yes.
  8. Choose a destination folder for files to be installed in and click Next. The default location on Windows is “C:\LizardTech\Express Server 8″. The default location on Unix is “opt/LizardTech”.
  9. Follow the rest of the wizard’s instructions and when the process is completed click Finish. (Important: Take note of the username and password on the Finish tab.)
  10. Follow the Start menu path to LizardTech > Express Server 8 > Express Server Manager and log in using the default username and password (you can and should change them immediately on the User Account tab of the Settings page).
