MrSID reprojection problems

Postby DR » Mon Jan 26, 2009 10:17 am

Hello,
I am trying to reproject some MrSID mosaics, and I'm having some unexpected results. I have three mosaics (40MB, 75MB, and 185MB) that were built from GeoTIFF images, first compressed losslessly, then at 20x compression. The 20x MrSID files were mosaicked using the composite mosaic method.

When I reproject these files, the resulting MrSID files are much much larger (190MB, 412MB, 880MB). The resulting files are correctly reprojected, but why are they so much larger? I cannot even open the largest file.

Is there a limit to the geographic area (extents) of the files that can reprojected since the coordinates cannot be transformed as compressed wavelet and it must be first uncompressed?

Thanks for any help,
David
