Color Balance command line

Postby dspotskey » Fri Apr 16, 2010 11:16 am

Does anyone know the command line parameters for color balance (Gamma, brightness, contrast)?

I have a large batch that I need to do the same correction too.

If not, does anyone know how to run multiple GUI of GeoExpress7?

I have an 8 core machine, so I would like to process these in one day instead of 8.

Thanks,
Dan

At this time there are no command-line parameters for color balancing.

I am unaware of a method to run multiple instances of the GUI but will see if I can find any information.

Even if there were a way to run multiple GUI instances you would still have to open a GUI for each file and - the color balancing properties individually. That would be time consuming.

Seems like if it is in the GUI, it should be possible with command line. They both use the same executable.

Color balancing was one of the only features left out of the command-line interface, most likely because it is done in a viewer window which gives visual confirmation of the changes being made.

In a command-line interface, one can't tell if the color balance changes being made will actually help or hurt the quality of the image until the image has been encoded.

It is techincally possible to blindly apply color balancing settings, and we are looking to add this option for the next release of GeoExpress.

Robert,

Just wanted to give you a real world example for your engineers.

Several states of the NAIP imagery have consistent tonal problem across the entire state. So I could color correct one image using the GUI to get the correct parameters, then process an entire state with those parameters in batch command line. I have 10 or so states like this with multiple years.

Any idea when the next update will be released?

Thanks,
Dan

We hope to finish the next release before the end of this year. It could be this summer or in the fall.

Since this time, GeoExpress 8 has been released. The ability to color balance from the command line has not yet been added.
