reprojection using mrsidgeoencoder

Postby ptrierweiler » Wed May 07, 2008 7:03 am

I currently have Geoexpress 5.0 and I use the mrsidgeoencoder.exe command for most of sid processing tasks.
I have one issue, I am not able to reproject sid images by using the mrsidgeoencoder.exe command line.
I use the -fromwkt and -towkt tags.
The message I always get is
Ignoring flag -towkt doesn't apply to MrSID optimizing
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

We have had some success in GeoExpress 5.0 by using the fromepsg toepsg tags instead of the wkt tags.

If you know the EPSG codes you can use those on the command line.

I am trying to reproject .sid g2 from UTM10 to bc Albers using Geoexpres 5.0

I am getting SRS not found error 51304

In command line I ve got:
D:\WorkSpace\tempData\WVan>mrsidgeodecode -i Vancouver_04-west_1.sid -o v4proj.sid -fromepsg 3157 -toepsg 3005
mrsidgeodecode usage error: extra arguments found (3157 ...)
Use -h or -help for list of options.

mrsidgeodecode -h does not list -fromepsg / -toepsg nor -fromwkt /-towkt as options

Can you explain what I am missing
thanks Mircea

mrsidgeodecode is a decoder, where you input MrSID and output TIFF or JPEG.

mrsidgeoencode (or mrsidgeoencodeU) is what you need to reproject and output to MrSID or JPEG 2000.

The command mrsidgeoencode (or mrsidgeoencodeU) is not recognized

I also tryed GeoExpress gui/ Reproject tab I got an error

Input file type: MrSID Generation 3
Input image size: 387.8 MB (406655235 bytes)

Thanks for your prompt response

I have located the exe's and run the encoder.
What I realy need to do is to project mrsids from utm10 to BCAlbers.
BCAlbers Nad 83 is not part of the esri_extra.wkt. I tried to add it as a new line there based on esri prj file but I am still getting 51304 error

There is an entry - 3005 - in pcs.csv thet has bc albers name but I am not sure how to use that

Can you please help.

Thanks
Mircea

I recommend installing the comand line help (you can do this by choosing to install the GeoExpress command line from the main installation menu). It will put a help file in the start menu or in the installation directory.

It describes in detail how to set up reprojection, mosaics and other advanced options.
