Postby Murali » Sat Mar 03, 2012 7:16 am

Hi,
I have a Lidar DEM mosaic in IMG and TIF format and its elevation value range from 7 feet to 116 feet. The client need it in MrSid format. When I convert the same to MrSid in Geoexpress, Its elevation range shows 0-90ft. what is going on here.i use Arcgis 10.0 to read the file.

Hello,

Try using the lossless compression checkbox instead of a compression ratio.

My data is in 32bit floating point and I am getting error that MG4/MG3 does not support 32bit floating point, so When I am making Generation 2 MrSid, the encoding option lossless is disabled/dimmed.

Then it appears your options are limited, since 32-bit floating data is not supported in MG3 or MG4. I would look for ways of converting your original image to a format that is supported [1-16 bits (unsigned 8, unsigned 16, signed 8, signed 16)].

Some have had success using imagemagick to do this.

Does MG2 support 32bit floating point data.

MG2 does support f32-bit data, however MG2 is not a lossless format, so the pixel values will change.

Have you tried converting the 32-bit data to 8-bit (24-bit [3*8])?
