layer (network) does not show up within wms getcapabilities

Hi,

ExpressServer6.1 layer does not show up within wms getcapabilities when the Catalog within cat-cfg.xml points to .sid files that are not within the \LizardTech\ExpressServer6.1 installation folder.
As an example the following shows up within getcapabilities:
<Catalog name="SanDiego2">
<Provider name="file" root="\LizardTech\ExpressServer6.1\SampleImages\SanDiego" volume="C:"/>

But if I instead point to a network drive it does not work:
<Catalog name="SanDiego2">
<Provider name="file" root="\SampleData\AOI_1_FT_Public_Domain\26911\SanDiego" volume="V:"/>

And it still does not work if I replace the drive letter with the UNC path:
<Catalog name="SanDiego2">
<Provider name="file" root="\SampleData\AOI_1_FT_Public_Domain\26911\SanDiego" volume="\\10.0.11.23\data2"/>

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John Mitchell

This sounds like a permission issue. I have some suggestions:

First, do not use a mapped drive, use a UNC path instead.
Next, make sure that the user that runs the web service is a domain user that has permission to read the images on that drive.

Typically the user on an IIS machine is a local user: IUSR_MACHINENAME. Change this to a domain user with the appropriate permissions (outlined in the docs) and that should resolve the issue.
