Express Server won't start

Postby davidg » Fri Dec 10, 2010 1:40 pm

Having trouble getting Express Server to start. It will start when using the default cat-cfg.xml. When I replace it with our customized XML it will not start (using net stop/start w3svc). The custom XML is well-formed.

When trying to start the following appears in the error log:

[code]
10/Dec/2010:15:24:47 [2400] [error] dberr: lock_put: Lock is no longer valid
10/Dec/2010:15:24:47 [2400] [error] dberr: put: attempt to modify a read-only tree

spindex

If the image server or isindex hangs when you try to run it, it may have remained locked after a previous use. In this case, using the spindex tool may recover the application in a clean (unlocked) state.

NOTE:  spindex must be run as root on Unix systems.

To run spindex:

Stop the web service.

Run the following commands from the command line, replacing <catalog name> with the locked catalog:

spindex -recover -p var/catalog-data/<catalog name>/\{D090DD8B-3D12-4631-9787-0DC2CACDC3EA\}

Thanks, Robert. Should I run spindex on all our catalogs, because I don't see one in the error log that is causing it to hang.
