Dithering Effects with Express Server 6.0

Postby myopic » Wed May 28, 2008 11:15 am

I was wondering if there was a way to turn off the dithering effects that we seem to be experiencing with Express Server 6.0?.

Some of our users prefer seeing the individual pixels.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks,

Michelle

Hello,

I - you are talking about the transparency that happens when you use the BufferMergeRule. I would experiment with different BufferMergeRule settings in the cat-config.xml file (a complete description of which is available in the docs) and see which you like best, or if you wish to remove it altogether.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for your response.

I don't believe it is the buffermerge rule as it is throughout the image. ERDAS Image Web Server also does this at the subpixel level and there currently is no way to turn if off. Mapserver does not do this, it keeps the shape of the input pixels intact. I was just wondering if Express Server had a way to turn off the smoothing to see the individual pixels.

Many Thanks,
Michelle
