decoding jpeg2000

Postby nabludatel » Thu Jan 15, 2009 10:37 am

I am using mrsiddecode.exe for more than year to convert cut fragments of images in mrSID files to the tiff format. It works good. Example:
mrsiddecode -i c:\naip_1-1_2n_s_mn169_2006_1.sid -o naip_1-1_2n_s_mn169_2006_1.tif -s 7 -wf
Created tif file was readable by any program designed to read tif.

Our provider of images in mrSID format now changed format to Jpeg2000. I tryed use mrsiddecode program to do same job with jp2 same way as with sid, as it discribed in manual for mrsiddecode. It does create file with extension tif, but not every program can recognize and read those files. I tryed several parammetres but it did not helps.
I also installed latest version of mrsidgeodecode.exe. It did not help.
Can anybody help?

mrsidgeodecode -i ortho_1-1_1m_j_mn121_2008_1.jp2 -of jpg -o ortho_1-1_1m_j_mn121_2008_1.tif -s 7 -wf

Do you think you could send a sample JPEG 2000 file that would reproduce this problem? If so, please contact LizardTech support via email.

The file you sent has an input image size of 10.5 GB. The TIFF file format is limited to 4 GB maximum (not by GeoExpress but by the TIFF spec). By definition, any TIFF file over 4 GB is invalid.

If I crop out a portion of the image I can produce a valid TIFF file.
