Seeing label on Shapefile
I set up a project with a .sid file and three ESRI shapefiles. The MrSid image file is of aerial photography of our city. I have added three layers from city GIS data sources: a Building footprint shape file (buildings.shp), an AddressPoints shapefile (address.shp), and a street centerlines file (Centerlines.shp). When I view the project I can see the building footprints nicely overlain on the imagery. I can see street centerlines as yellow lines nicely ovelain on the imagery (so far so good), but the street name label is missing. Likewise, when I view the address layer I see little tiny dots in the middle of the building footprints but no address number (like 123 which indicates a house address number of 123). I have a set of six other files along with each shape file (thus with the address.shp file I also have an address.dbf, address.prj, address.sbn, address.sbx, and address.shx file. I am told that the street address number itself is in one of these related files and that maybe Geoviewer can read and display it next to the point? But I can't figure out how. Or maybe I have to have a special shape file that is the label? Any help would be appreciated.
