LizardTech’s DjVu Technology Showcased in O2′s New DocRocket Launcher Service
SEATTLE, Wash., February 17, 2004 – LizardTech, Inc., today announced that its DjVu document compression technology is now available via a new free trial service from O2, called DocRocket Launcher. Customers can use DocRocket Launcher to dramatically reduce the size of popular documents such as TIFF, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and Portable Document Format (PDF) up to 1000 times smaller than the original, making it easier and quicker to send and receive large files via the Internet or wireless network.
The DocRocket Launcher free trial service can be accessed by going tohttp://launcher.o2ade.co.uk/Launcher and completing the simple registration process. DocRocket Launcher enables customers to convert file types such as Microsoft Office documents into the DocRocket DjVu file format. Customers will be able to convert up to a maximum of 10 files for free which are then retained in the customer’s personal online library. The service automatically detects whether the customer is viewing files via a mobile device or via the desktop and presents the content accordingly. For mobile devices based on Microsoft PocketPC like O2′s Xda there are viewers available.
DocRocket benefits people who do work on the move and need to access and review large files, such as reference material, engineering diagrams, and graphic rich presentations. As well as reducing the file size of the original documents, DocRocket enables any page of a document to be viewed independently, further reducing bandwidth requirements, saving users money and providing them with instant access to previously inaccessible documentation.
“The DocRocket Launcher is an ideal showcase for O2 to permit their customers to see for themselves the benefits that DjVu can bring to mobile workers using DocRocket and GPRS as part of their everyday lives,” commented Carlos Domingo, LizardTech President and CEO.
“We were looking for new ways to showcase the capabilities and benefits that DocRocket can offer our customers. We developed a trial service with LizardTech that is easy to access via the web and very simple to use,” said Laurence Alexander, Product Director, O2 UK. “I am convinced it will be a major asset for our customers by allowing them to experience the significant productivity improvements DocRocket can provide in conjunction with O2′s range of mobile data services.”
