LizardTech Introduces Internet-Powered Raster Imaging for ESRI ArcIMS and ArcGIS Customers
LizardTech’s MrSID technology continues to lead industry in rapid access to imagery
Seattle, WA, March, 4, 2004 – LizardTech, a leader in software solutions that make it significantly easier to manage, distribute and access digital content such as aerial photography, satellite imagery and scanned color documents, today announced the availability of a new ArcIMS Integration Toolkit that increases the speed of streaming MrSID images over the Internet. The company is also releasing a plug-in, Express Server for ArcGIS, that allows users to remotely access and share large image data stores.
The LizardTech Express Server for ArcGIS plug-in is now available via a free download. The ArcIMS Integration Toolkit will be available as part of LizardTech’s Express Server 4.6 due out at the end of March.
Image data providers, natural resource companies, utilities, national defense and local/regional government agencies who currently use ESRI’s ArcIMS and ArcSDE are choosing LizardTech’s ArcIMS Integration Toolkit with the release of Express Server 4.6 to enable rapid access to large image data sets without the need to create image pyramids.
“The growing GIS market is shifting to add large raster datasets distributed via the Internet,” said Carlos Domingo, LizardTech CEO. “Such massive imagery often causes bottlenecks that make distribution of image assets via the Internet nearly unfeasible. The ArcGIS plug-in and ArcIMS Integration Toolkit are complimentary solutions for users of ESRI GIS solutions as they work to simplify management of their raster imaging and increase delivery speed over the Internet.”
“The ArcIMS Integration Toolkit allows companies to leverage existing image server infrastructure and in-house expertise to maximize the performance aerial imagery with an integrated GIS,” said Karen Morley, vice president of Geospatial Imaging for LizardTech. “Our ArcIMS Integration Toolkit and Express Server for ArcGIS plug-in enables organizations to accelerate the delivery of enormous MrSID imagery over the Internet. We are pleased to leverage our strong relationship with ESRI to compliment their technology to deliver new integration that enables faster and more efficient image transfer and rendering.”
