LizardTech Reports Strongest Fiscal Year for its Geospatial Solutions in 12-Year Company History

Seattle, WA, August 3, 2004 – LizardTech, Inc., a leader in software solutions that make it significantly easier to manage, distribute and access digital content such as aerial photography, satellite imagery and scanned color documents, today announced that it has surpassed its existing record fiscal year net revenue for its geospatial line of products, GeoExpress with MrSID® and Express Server, ending June 30, 2004. LizardTech finished its 2004 fiscal year with a 34 percent increase over 2003 for sales of its geospatial products. Overall revenue for North America for Q4 was also the best in the history of the company.

Celartem Technology Inc., a Japan-based company, purchased LizardTech in August 2003 and shortly thereafter, Carlos Domingo was appointed as LizardTech’s new CEO. This acquisition has enabled LizardTech to invest in personnel, new product development and has fueled its growth strategy in the geospatial market with key customers such as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).

“Coming just one year after the acquisition of LizardTech by Celartem Technology, Inc., LizardTech is very excited about this epic achievement,” said Carlos Domingo, CEO of LizardTech, Inc. “LizardTech is stronger than ever and our corporate redirection has positioned us to take full advantage of new opportunities and markets while the support and investment by our parent company, Celartem has enabled us to move aggressively and grow faster than our forecasts.”

“We attribute our strong sales results to the release of GeoExpress 4.0 with MrSID, which includes a robust set of new features based upon the lossless MrSID generation 3 format (MG3), as well as to the increased success of our reseller channel, and LizardTech’s strong commitment to supporting our global resellers” said Brian Soliday, vice president of global sales for LizardTech. “Clearly, LizardTech’s highly efficient and robust image and document compression technologies, GeoExpress with MrSID and Document Express with DjVu, are providing organizations with cost-effective means to create, manage and distribute their digital image assets.”

LizardTech’s GeoExpress with MrSID is the de facto industry standard for managing, accessing and distributing massive geospatial imagery such as aerial photos and satellite images. Document Express with DjVu is the premier open platform for creating, storing and exchanging scanned and electronic color documents with unmatched compression, quality and web-optimization. Using LizardTech’s Express Server, customers have the freedom to cost-effectively distribute high-resolution imagery and perfect reproductions of scanned documents via the Internet to any device without sacrificing quality, resolution, or legibility. The new ArcIMS integration toolkit found in Express Server 4.6 compliments ArcIMS implementations by serving images from Express Server, dramatically decreasing the load on ArcIMS services, freeing them up to more rapidly process non-imaging requests.

“Organizations working to manage rapid information growth under new government regulations and tight IT budgets need cost-effective, easy-to-use image solutions that deliver high levels of visual quality and legibility whether the images are geospatial or scanned documents, compact file sizes and can support fast Internet delivery,” said Karen Morley, vice president of global marketing at LizardTech. “LizardTech is setting new compression and delivery standards for ease of use and cost-benefit to meet the needs of these customers.”
