LizardTech Unveils Document Express 5.0 with DjVu for Industry-Leading Performance and Value

LizardTech Delivers Scanned Color Documents for the Cost of Black and White

Seattle, WA, August 3, 2004 – LizardTech, Inc., a leader in software solutions that make it significantly easier to manage, distribute and access digital content such as aerial photography, satellite imagery and scanned color documents, today delivered Document Express 5.0 with DjVu that enables unprecedented reduction in file storage and maximum ease of distribution for any kind of document.

“Organizations are demanding document imaging solutions that enable them to cost effectively archive and share scanned color documents,” said Karen Morley, vice president of global marketing. “Previously limited to scanning all documents in black and white due to the enormous size of color document TIFF and JPEG files, LizardTech’s Document Express 5.0 with DjVu enables compact electronic and scanned color documents at a cost comparable to black and white documents while preserving the visual quality of the original color document.”

LizardTech Document Express 5.0 with DjVu introduces a sleek, intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) to easily set up workflows, and “Watch Folders” that completely automate the document conversion process from most commonly used scanned image documents like TIFF, JPEG or BMP as well as specialized PDF conversion that deals with both scanned and electronic PDFs, thereby increasing productivity and reducing labor costs. A fast OCR engine driven by I.R.I.S., supports 100+ languages enabling organizations to easily get the most out of their scanned document assets by making the text searchable using keywords. In addition, watermarks or company logos can easily be added to documents at the time of creation to protect copyrights and identify source agencies.

“As government regulations and requirements for fixed content and record archiving continue to increase, demand is growing for highly efficient document storage solutions, faster document transfer and access, greater legibility of document content, and flexible, easy to deploy systems that integrate into an existing document scanning workflow and meet Section 508 compliance.” said Carlos Domingo, LizardTech CEO. “Document Express 5.0 with DjVu enables companies with these capabilities.”

Now available through Authorized LizardTech Resellers worldwide, Document Express 5.0 with DjVu combines efficient compression technology, automatic document conversion, customizable workflows and an easy to use interface to produce a cost effective document imaging solution that delivers the highest levels of legibility for color documents in a compact file that conserves storage space and bandwidth.
