LizardTech Chosen to Provide Digital Versions of Seattle Weekly Newspaper
Digital Replicas of Seattle Weekly Now Available Online Thanks to LizardTech’s DjVu®Document Format
SEATTLE, Wash. – September 28, 2005 - LizardTech, a division of Celartem, Inc., and a leading provider of software solutions for managing and distributing digital content today announced its DjVu technology was chosen by Seattle Weekly for delivering exact digital replicas of its hard copy edition. The digital replica edition will give local readers who prefer to read the newspaper online the opportunity to enjoy Seattle Weekly in a digital form, whether they are visiting relatives in Pasco, WA, or off on a trip in Paris.
Copies of Seattle Weekly will now be available in digital replicas thanks to LizardTech’s groundbreaking DjVu technology, originally developed in AT&T Research Labs. Seattle Weeklyreaders will now be able to receive digital replicas of the weekly news and entertainment paper, with the same layout as the print edition featuring all the editorial content, colorful images, advertisements and classifieds. In addition, the digital edition of the newspaper will feature hyperlinks to other Web sites giving readers immediate access to additional advertiser offers and information, event details and more.

LizardTech’s DjVu technology was most recently chosen by The New Yorker magazine to capture and compress 80 years of issues on just eight DVDs in a collection titled “The Complete New Yorker.” The project consisted of processing more than half a million color scans, which resulted in highly compressed files that have far better image quality than JPEG.
