LizardTales Newsletter – January 2004
Letter from LizardTech CEO, Carlos Domingo

Dear LizardTech customers and partners,
I am pleased to announce a new quarterly newsletter that will give LizardTech a forum to communicate with you all the exciting news about our company. You, as a LizardTech customer or partner, are the most important asset our company has. There are many changes happening within the company to best serve and support you. The acquisition of LizardTech by Celartem Technology a few months ago has brought LizardTech the stability, financial backing and focus on our long term strategy that we needed to remain the worldwide leader in software solutions that make it significantly easier to manage, distribute, and access digital content such as aerial photography, satellite imagery and scanned color documents.
During the last few months, we have added fresh talent to reinforce the LizardTech team. The entire LizardTech staff has been furiously working on many new projects to deliver cutting edge imaging solutions, service and support.
We recently unveiled a new company image and launched a new Web site detailing each of our imaging products along with downloads for plug-ins, product trials, events and more. I invite you to visit it frequently to be updated by the minute on our activities.
In December we released GeoExpress with MrSID® 4.0 at the Autodesk University, a major upgrade, packed with many new features, that will reinforce the position of LizardTech as the leader of the geospatial imaging space.
We also repositioned Document Express with DjVu® and have significantly reduced our prices and simplified our product line to make it more affordable and accessible to the millions of existing DjVu users.
And, there is more to come. This year we are planning new releases of ExpressServer and Document Express as well as our first release of a digital rights management product developed with our parent company Celartem so stay tuned.
Regards,

Document Express 5.0 with DjVu®
![]()
An increasing number of corporations are turning to Document Express with DjVu® to produce, manage and distribute high-quality color documents very efficiently. Case in point: in November 2003, Samsung started publishing all of its product manuals in DjVu format, making them available on the product support site. Samsung’s product manuals in DjVu format are several times smaller than their PDF counterpart, and as more and more users choose DjVu over PDF, Samsung saves a bundle in bandwidth costs.
To learn more about how you can move beyond the limitations of black-and-white and into the world of color scanning, download a recent article written for eDoc Magazine by Luc Vincent, LizardTech’s Vice President of Document Imaging.

GeoExpress 4.0 with MrSID now available!

Whether you’re analyzing satellite imagery or digitizing on aerial photography, the new, robust toolset in GeoExpress 4.0 makes managing, and distributing and accessing imagery more accessible and affordable than ever before.
- Satellite and aerial images too big and unwieldy? Quickly and easily crop out a small portion of a raw image, existing mosaic, or single MrSID file to a window or a given set of geographic coordinates.
- Images with differing resolution? Create a single mosaic comprising each resolution. And, you can even update your mosaics with new images without going back to the original TIFF files.
- Need more efficient image distribution? Resample images ‘on the fly’ to create smaller files sizes with a lower pixel resolution.
- Do all this and more in an interactive preview window that enables you to see the impact of your change before actually making it.
GeoExpress 4.0 with MrSID sets a new standard in managing, accessing and distributing massive geospatial imagery. Designed for data providers, government agencies and end users that demand the most from aerial and satellite images, there has never been a better time to upgrade to GeoExpress 4.0 with MrSID.
