FROM MANAGEMENT
See you in San Diego!
As spring warms up and we head towards summer, LizardTech is preparing for the Esri International User Conference, coming up July 8-12 in San Diego. LizardTech and Esri have been partners for many years, and we’re all excited to meet up with our customers and partners to share information and good times in beautiful Southern California.
We’ve been a platinum imagery sponsor in years past, and we’ll be doing the same thing this year. Be sure to stop by our booth #1704 and attend our demo theater presentation on Wednesday, July 10 from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. in Hall C to learn more about what’s new with MrSID and LizardTech. We’re also running a couple of exciting contests this year, and will be giving away a number of prizes including an iPad Mini and a 42″ TV! Be sure to visit our website often for updates. We’ll be kicking things off with contest announcements in early June.
The latest version of our flagship GeoExpress software will be unveiled at the conference as well. While we’re not sharing a lot of details yet, how does a 400% improvement in compression speed sound?
Most importantly, though, we get to connect with you. We hope you stop by and say hello, ask questions, and share with us how you’re using LizardTech products.
Best Regards,
LizardTech Management

MrSID Generation 4 status report
As many of you are aware, LizardTech launched the newest version of MrSID, called MrSID Generation 4 (MG4) a few years back. With support for hyperpsectral data, LiDAR data, and improved mosaicking performance, it added a lot of new functionality for MrSID users.
What many people may not appreciate, however, is how our partners build support for MG4 into their applications. To do so, they download one of LizardTech’s free software development kits (SDKs), which are available for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, Solaris, and iOS. Our partners use these SDKs to extend MrSID support to their applications.
As of April 2013, over 40 geospatial applications support MrSID Generation 4, including products from Esri, ERDAS, BAE Systems, and Overwatch. If your favorite applications don’t yet support MG4, talk to your software vendor or email us at info@lizardtech.com. We’re always happy to help.

TIPS AND TRICKS
Using a 64-bit computer and want to speed up your processing time?
A 64-bit computer has more access to RAM than a 32-bit computer, you can take advantage of this by increasing the strip height of your encode. Click on More Encode Options, and then the Advanced tab. Change to the Strip Height from 12 to 24 and select OK. This will take advantage of the increased RAM while processing your image.
GeoExpress provides a quick way to resample data that is in the MrSID generation 4 or generation 3 format. Add your image to the optimized tab, select more optimize options, choose the output tab and select resample.
