Overview
LizardTech Spatial Express for Oracle:
Oracle Spatial includes advanced spatial capabilities supporting GIS applications, location-based services, and enterprise spatial information storage requirements for geospatial image libraries that are critical to defense and other areas of the public sector, as well as to the logistics, energy exploration, business geographics, and life sciences domains.
ptimize your investment in your Oracle Spatial database by storing your raster imagery natively in MrSID and JPEG 2000 formats. With LizardTech’s Spatial Express application, you can dramatically reduce the storage space used for your raster imagery by up to 95 percent while retaining visually lossless image quality. In addition, you can now select an Oracle database and table for output directly from within the GeoExpress GUI and decrease your bandwidth and disk space requirements by storing imagery as efficient wavelets rather than raw pixels. Thanks to LizardTech’s industry-standard MrSID geospatial image compression format and the ISO standard JPEG 2000 format, you can store, manage, and access images that are hundreds of gigabytes in size more efficiently from within your Oracle database.
If you use Oracle Spatial and raster imagery, LizardTech Spatial Express enables you to get the most value out of your geospatial data.
Why Spatial Express?
- Store large images (200+ GB RAW) natively in Oracle.
- Reduce storage space required by 95% by compressing to visually lossless MrSID (SID) or JPEG 2000 (JP2).
- Decrease load on servers by using the selective decoding of SID/JP2 – no need to decompress the entire image.
- View imagery in any GeoRaster-enabled applications.
- For ESRI application, use the ArcMap Plug-in to import raster data as image layers into your maps and other geospatial projects.
Features and Benefits
Oracle Spatial 10g Just Became Even Better
Now, LizardTech’s Spatial Express provides advanced geospatial image storage, viewing and distribution capabilities for Oracle Spatial, addressing the mission-critical needs of customers in traditional GIS domains such as defense, homeland security, land management, utilities and transportation.
Spatial Express for Oracle Spatial 10g is the solution for GIS users who have libraries of massive geospatial imagery requiring highly efficient storage and rapid distribution to field and mission-critical locations. The debut release of Spatial Express for Oracle Spatial 10g introduces significant time- and cost-saving benefits:
Store Large MrSID® or JPEG 2000 Images Natively
LizardTech’s industry-standard MrSID geospatial image compression format and the ISO standard JPEG 2000 format combined with the robust foundation of Oracle’s Spatial 10g database means you now can store massive raster imagery natively in MrSID and JPEG 2000 formats, switching between formats depending on the specifications your project calls for.
Decrease Your Storage Space Requirements By Up To 95%
Dramatically decrease the storage space requirements for raster imagery by up to 95 percent while retaining visually lossless image quality, Spatial Express delivers highly efficient image compression with ratios between 2:1 (lossless) and 20:1 (visually lossless), or up to 500:1 depending on your workflow needs. With your choice of two efficient image compression formats, the industry-standard MrSID and the ISO-standard JPEG 2000, Spatial Express makes it possible to store enormous image files natively as MrSID or JPEG 2000 in an Oracle Spatial database.
View Your Imagery in Any GeoRaster-Enabled Application
Because Spatial Express uses the GeoRaster API, any GeoRaster application will be able to retrieve and view MrSID and JPEG 2000 imagery. No need to worry about whether your application will support various file formats; just choose your imagery and go to work!
Improve the Processing Efficiency and Memory Usage in Your Database Servers
Selective decompression extracts only the necessary pixels you need for viewing your imagery. Rather than decompressing an entire satellite image of Manhattan just to view the Statue of Liberty, Spatial Express decodes only those pixels within the image thereby decreasing your database processor load, memory utilization, and bandwidth consumption.
