GeoExpress - FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

F060303 - Can I access a data cartridge from another computer or server location?

Yes. You can use the Express Cartridge Manager (ECM) Server functionality to share your data cartridges across your network.

Details
On the computer(s) that you want to serve the cartridges, browse the installation DVD to the ”ECMServer“ folder and run ”setup.exe“. This installs the ECM Server and registers it as a service.

Note: The service does not start initially; you must open your Services applet and manually start it. When the computer reboots, the service starts automatically from then on.

After you’ve installed the ECM Server, you must select the network data cartridge on your GeoExpress client(s).

  1. From within GeoExpress, select Data Cartridge from the Tools menu. The Data Cartridge Manager dialog appears.
  2. Select the Use network ECM radio button and then click Select a network ECM. The Network ECM Settings dialog appears.
  3. Enter the computer name or the IP address of the computer (the default port is 9002 and it is unlikely you will ever need to change it) and click OK to close each dialog.
