C060801 - Configuring Express Server with Windows 2003

Summary:

Due to the security changes in IIS, there are several extra steps required to configure Express Server 5.3 with Windows 2003:

Solution:

  1. Install Express Server normally (with or without the Style Server).
  2. Reboot if necessary.
  3. Open Internet Services Manager.
  4. Right click on Web Service Extensions and select Add a new Web service extension….
  5. For Extension name, enter “LizardTech Express Server”.
  6. In the Required files section, click Add….
  7. Select the Browse… button, and navigate to “$IMAGE_SERVER_HOMElib”.
  8. Select “lt_iserv_iis.dll”.
  9. Click Open, then OK to choose the file.
  10. Select the Set extension status to allowed checkbox.
  11. Click OK to dismiss the “New Web Service Extension” box.
  12. Stop and start IIS.

Status:

This issue was addressed in Express Server 6. The extra steps listed above are not required in Express Server 6.
