A080105 - Error encoding large ECW files

Summary:

Large ECW files used as input files fail to encode.

Cause:

ECW files use more memory than other input formats.

Solution:

To encode large ECW input images, make the following adjustments:

  • For JPEG 2000 (“.jp2″) output decrease the tile width and height and the flush period.
  • For MG3 (“.sid”) output decrease the strip height, and if more adjustment is necessary, decrease the block size.

Alternatively, try encoding ECW imagery on a 64-bit system.

Status:

This is a known issue that will be addressed in a future release.
