Express Server - FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
H080801 - How do I configure an Express Server catalog with a network drive?
With Express Server 6 and later running on Windows 2003 with Internet Information Server (IIS), catalogs can be configured to work with a UNC share or other network drive.
Configuration involves two parts; you must edit your catalog configuration file (catalogs.xml) and you must change the user that runs Express Server.
First, add a catalog to the catalog configuration file as in the following example:
<Catalog name="demo">
<Provider name="filename.sid" root="C:/Documents/Images"
volume="Samples"/>
</Catalog>
Next, open IIS Manager and right-click on Default Web Site (or right-click on lizardtech to isolate this change to Express Server only).
Change the name of the user running Express Server in your IIS Manager as follows:
- Choose Properties. The Default Web Site Properties dialog appears.
- Choose the Directory Security tab.
- Click Edit. The Authentication Methods dialog appears.
- Change the user name to a domain user that has permission to read the image folder on the network drive.
