C060403 - Installation troubleshooting

Products:

Express Server

Summary:

Following are some steps for troubleshooting the installation of LizardTech Express Server.

Solution:

Test the XML output from the Express Image Server using the following URL:
http://localhost/lizardtech/iserv/browse?style=none

Also test the HTML output from the Style Server:http://localhost:9001/StyleServer/browse?

If these pages don’t load, follow these steps:

  1. Open the IIS Control Panel
  2. Check that the Web Server is actually running. If it is not, then start it and try the URL again.
  3. Check the value of the Default Web Site’s Port. If it is not set to ’80′, then try the URL again with this port. For example, if it is running on port 81, then try this URL:
    http://localhost:81/lizardtech/iserv/browse?style=none

If content is not displayed when viewing the Style Server test URL:

  1. Ensure that Express Image Server is running (as described above)
  2. Ensure that a valid J2SE Installation exisits on the system
  3. Ensure that Style Server is running:
    • Open the Windows Services Control Panel, and locate the ‘StyleServer’ service
    • If it is not running, then start it now
  4. Verify the Style Server configuration files:
    • The file: “StyleServerJakarta-tomcat-4.1.24webappsStyleServerWEB-INFweb.xml” should contain the correct port and IP of the Express Image Server
    • The file: “StyleServerJakarta-tomcat-4.1.24confserver.xml” should have the same port attribute that you are specifying in the Style Server URL
    • The Style Server and the Image Server must run on different ports
    • Check the Style Server logs – they are located in StyleServerJakarta-tomcat-4.1.24logs
