Image incorrectly referenced or appears in wrong spatial location

Image Referencing Issue

Applicable to Product(s)

GeoViewer Pro

Issue

Your MrSID image or mosaic is not correctly referenced or does not appear in the proper spatial location.

Cause

The coordinates (or “extents”) of the source tiles may be determined by world files or ESRI aux files, which your installation of GeoExpress may not have enabled. Also, coordinate reference system units (feet, miles, pixels, etc.) of the source and output files may be mismatched.

Solution

  • Check your source file types. If the source tiles have companion world files or aux.xml files:

    • Select Preferences from the Options

    • Select theUse checkboxes next to World Files and Aux XML

    • Start a new project.

  • Ensure that the extents are correct in GeoExpress before encoding.

    • Check the coordinate reference system. When selecting source and output coordinate reference systems, be careful that the units match. If working in feet, be sure you select feet as your output units.

Note: Some older versions of ArcMap require that the coordinate reference system of MrSID files be set in ArcCatalog (meaning it does not automatically read the metadata of the MrSID file).
